Qualified, Grounded, and Ready: Stepping Into My Next Chapter
There are moments in life when we look back and realise just how far we have come.
For a long time, becoming a qualified counsellor was something I was working towards a goal that required commitment, learning, reflection, personal growth, and the courage to continue even during the moments when the journey felt challenging.
Now, as I step forward into this new chapter, I feel proud to say that I am a qualified counsellor.
But qualification is more than a certificate or the end of a course.
For me, it represents the journey behind it.
The learning.
The self-reflection.
The moments of uncertainty.
The growth that happened quietly.
And the understanding that supporting others begins with being willing to understand ourselves.
The End of One Journey and the Beginning of Another
Completing my qualification is a meaningful milestone, but it is not the end of my growth.
Counselling is a profession that asks us to continue learning, reflecting, developing, and remaining aware of how we show up in our work. Qualification does not mean having all the answers. It means having developed the knowledge, skills, ethical understanding, and self-awareness needed to begin practising responsibly.
There is something powerful about reaching a goal while also recognising that there is still more to learn.
I am entering this next chapter with confidence, but also with humility.
I am proud of how far I have come, while remaining open to everything that is still ahead.
What I Want to Bring Into My Work
Throughout my journey, I have continued to learn how important it is for people to feel genuinely heard.
Sometimes people do not need someone to immediately fix their feelings or tell them what to do. They need space to speak honestly. They need to feel listened to without judgement. They need the opportunity to understand themselves without being rushed.
As a counsellor, I want to offer a space where people can bring the parts of themselves they may feel unable to share elsewhere.
The grief.
The uncertainty.
The anxiety.
The self-doubt.
The emotions they have spent years hiding.
The experiences they may not yet have the words to explain.
Counselling is not about telling someone who they should become. It is about supporting them as they explore who they are, what they need, and what healing may look like for them.
Confidence Does Not Mean Knowing Everything
For a long time, I thought confidence meant feeling completely certain and ready.
I have learnt that confidence can also mean moving forward while still recognising that growth continues.
It can mean trusting the work you have put in.
It can mean acknowledging your strengths without pretending you are perfect.
It can mean being proud of yourself without needing to minimise the achievement.
I am proud of becoming qualified. I am proud of the commitment it took to reach this point. And I am proud that I continued to grow through every stage of the journey.
I am also aware that this is only the beginning.
Ready for What Comes Next
This new chapter feels exciting.
It brings new opportunities, new connections, and the chance to continue building meaningful and supportive spaces for women through B.L.O.O.M by SMA.
I am stepping forward with the knowledge and experience I have gained, but also with the values that have remained important throughout my journey: compassion, authenticity, respect, connection, and the belief that every person deserves to feel heard.
I do not need to have every answer.
I do not need to be perfect.
I need to remain present, ethical, reflective, and committed to supporting people in a way that respects their individual experiences.
And I am ready.
Ready to continue learning.
Ready to grow.
Ready to support others.
Ready to build something meaningful.
This chapter is not about becoming someone completely new.
It is about stepping into the person I have been growing into all along.
A Final Reflection
Sometimes we spend so much time working towards the next goal that we forget to pause and recognise what we have achieved.
This October, I am allowing myself to acknowledge the journey.
To recognise the challenges.
To celebrate the growth.
And to step forward with confidence.
I am qualified.
I am grounded.
I am still learning.
And I am ready for what comes next.
B.L.O.O.M by SMA
At B.L.O.O.M by SMA, I believe that growth is not about becoming perfect. It is about creating space to understand ourselves, reconnect with who we are, and move forward with compassion.
This is the beginning of a new chapter and I am ready to see where it leads.
