Growth Doesn’t Always Look Like Blooming

March is often spoken about as the month of new beginnings.
Longer days. Lighter mornings. The quiet suggestion that things should be starting to feel better.

But I’ve learnt that growth doesn’t always arrive loudly and it doesn’t always look like blooming.

For many women, March sits in an in-between space. Winter may be ending, but the heaviness hasn’t fully lifted. Feelings doesn’t follow the seasons. Healing doesn’t respond to brighter days on command. And mental health doesn’t improve just because spring is approaching.

And that’s okay.

Growth Can Be Quiet

We’re so used to measuring progress by what’s visible. Doing more. Feeling better. Being “back to ourselves.” But some of the most important growth happens quietly, beneath the surface, where no one else can see it.

Sometimes growth looks like:

  • getting through the day without falling apart

  • learning when to rest instead of pushing

  • setting boundaries without guilt

  • allowing yourself to feel without fixing

  • choosing yourself, even when it feels uncomfortable

That is still growth.

Letting Go of the Pressure to Feel Better

There’s an unspoken pressure that comes with this time of year a feeling that we should be moving forward by now. But healing doesn’t work on deadlines, and neither does grief.

If you’re still carrying sadness, exhaustion, or emotional weight, it doesn’t mean you’re stuck. It means you’re human.

March doesn’t ask us to rush.
It invites us to soften.

Mental Wellbeing in the In-Between

Mental health isn’t about constant positivity. It’s about learning how to stay with ourselves, even in the uncomfortable moments. Especially in the moments when we feel unsure, fragile, or tired.

For me, this has meant learning that growth doesn’t always feel empowering. Sometimes it feels messy. Sometimes it feels slow. And sometimes it feels like simply staying present when everything in you wants to escape.

But staying is powerful.

A Gentle Reminder This Month

If March feels quiet, heavy, or uncertain for you, please remember:

  • You don’t need to rush your healing

  • You don’t need to prove your progress

  • You don’t need to match anyone else’s timeline

You are allowed to grow slowly.
You are allowed to take up space exactly as you are.
You are allowed to bloom in your own time.

And sometimes, just surviving the season is more than enough.

At B.L.O.O.M by SMA, we believe growth doesn’t need to be loud to be meaningful. This March, may you allow yourself to grow gently, honestly, and at your own pace, without pressure.
